CHRONOLOGY:
2000-present: Freelance translator and interpreter in Washington, DC. I spend the bulk of my time as a Spanish court interpreter at courthouses in the Washington DC area.
1999 Staff multilingual translator at Precision Translating, Miami
1988-96: Official Court Interpreter at U.S. District Court, San Juan, Puerto Rico. I interpreted in simultaneous & consecutive modes between Eng. & Span. for defendants & witnesses who spoke no Eng. Occasionally I also interpreted French, Portuguese, etc.
1987: Translator at El Diario-La Prensa, New York’s main Span. daily. I translated news articles, editorials & columns Eng.-Span.
1986: Translator, United Nations, New York. I translated from Eng. & Fr. into Span. economic, social, & legal reports, technical memoranda & summarized minutes of committee meetings.
1981-82: Conference interpreter in Mexico & West Berlin.

+English-Spanish: On instruction by the 1st U.S. Court of Appeals, Boston, I performed the final editing of the Span. translations of the U.S. Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, intended for distribution in the U.S pavilion at the 1992 Seville World Exposition. Also a great number of legal and business documents.
+Spanish-German: Summaries of Argentine bankruptcy & labor legislation and chemical lab protocols.
+Italian-English: A long treatise on comparative civil law, a number of legal and police documents, some of them quite long. Pharmacological articles, medical records.
