Presentation :
Very good handling of the source and target language is an evident necessity for a professional translator, but it will only take you so far – specifically in the IT sector. Even more important is a thorough understanding of the content matter, which often has a technical and advanced nature. The best guarantee for this is a university education in the subject area.

There is probably no other area that changes as rapidly as the information technology does. Technical terms change fast accordingly. I keep up by maintaining long terminology lists, which I update on a regular basis.

Contrary to a preconception that sometimes comes up, there are elegant, widely known German equivalents for many English IT terms – I make a point of using them whenever appropriate.

Master's degree in computer science (University of Erlangen/Nürnberg, 1992, "sehr gut").
Professional experience :
I’ve been doing professional translations in the IT sector for six years. I have a special focus on translations in the area of SAP software, localizing it as well as translating tutorials and handbooks. I also translate warehouse management and materials management texts, drawing on my experience as a former consultant in these areas.
Prices :
My standard rate is EUR 0.14 per source word; you will get 12% reduction for jobs that exceed 14,000 words. Surcharges might apply if your text contains a lot of tables or requires other time consuming processing.
Working method :
I work on a PC with Windows XP Professional. For translating, I employ Trados Workbench 7, a leading CAT software.

I currently work with Microsoft Word 2003, Excel 2003, Powerpoint 2003.

I can also translate XML and HTML pages.
