Presentation :
Translator and Proofreader (from English, French and Portuguese into Spanish) during 19 years. Being a linguist and having lived, studied and worked in the US (3 years), in two French speaking countries (11 years), in Panama (6 years), in Mexico (15 years), besides my first 17 years in the DR (where I have returned since December 2004), I considered myself thoroughly capable of perfectly grasping the contextual, semantic and expressive meaning of the source language and conveying an idiomatic, precise and stylish message in Spanish.

My knowledge of standard Spanish has allowed me to work in such editorials as National Geographic, Reader's Digest and Harper’s Bazaar where it is imperative to render translations adapted to a large Latin American readership.

As Assistant Director of Translation at the National Banking Commission, I further specialized in the areas of finance, banking, and accounting.

Translated a significant number of books, internal documents and articles for prestigious publishers and organizations.

Working method :
I first read throughout the text grasping its general tone, as well as its semantic, contextual, social and cultural meanings.
Then, I translate the text.
I keep away from the translated text for least one hour or, if possible, overnight.
I read the translation once to check overall tone, contextual meaning and noticeable errors.
I read the translation again aloud, when possible to someone else or, better, I listen to the text being read aloud by someone else.
I make the necessary changes.
I review spelling and grammar.
Before passing the translation to the client or approver, I read and correct my translation at least three times.
