Presentation :
With over 21 years of experience living in working in Japan, I have been working in a professional capacity as a Japanese-to-English translator for the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army since 1991. I am currently employed full-time by the U.S. Army Asian Studies Detachment in Japan, performing translations and translation QCs of reports covering a wide variety of military, political, scientific/technical, medical and infrastructure topics. I have also translated annual reports and various other PR documents published by commercial firms. My freelance work specialized in chemical research papers and patents, as well as general science and general business documents. Additionally, I am also very interested in translating post-WW2 Japanese novels, short stories, essays, etc.
Qualifications :
1. Bachelor of Arts in Business and Management (secondary concentration in Japanese Studies), University of Maryland
2. Associate of Applied Science in Interpreting and Translating, Community College of the Air Force
3. Achieved highest possible score of 3 "Proficient" on the Defense Language Proficiency Test in Japanese every year since 1991.
