Presentation :
I am a first-language English speaker who specialises in translations from Italian and also speaks very good French. I lived in Italy for about 5 years and was an undergraduate student at Italian universities.

I am very highly qualified and have experience of teaching translation at UK universities, including 3 years as a Lecturer in Italian Studies at Bristol University. I also have experience of doing technical and commercial translations while working for DuPont before I went freelance.

2003 Institute of Linguists Diploma in Translation (Italian into English)

1997 PhD in Italian Studies, University of Wales Swansea, entitled The social philosophy of Pietro Verri. Verri was an 18th Century Milanese reformer and economist. My research involved reading a large quantity of material in Italian and French and helped me to develop excellent research skills.

1989 B.A. in Italian with First Class Honours and Distinction in Oral Proficiency, University of Wales College of Cardiff

1987 Diploma in Extra-mural studies (French Studies) with Distinction, Oral Distinction and Special Commendation, University College Cardiff

Professional experience :
Full-time freelance translator since 2003, translating business texts, contracts, excel charts, tourism texts, questionnaire responses etc.

Before I was a full-time translator I spent 7 years teaching translation at UK universities, including 3 years as Lecturer in Italian Studies at University of Bristol. I also worked for over 5 years in Sales and Customer Services at DuPont Electronic Materials, where my work included commercial and technical translations and telephone interpreting.
Prices :
£55.00 per 1,000 words of target text, or £25.00 per hour. I am registered for VAT.
