I can supply your translations as hard copy, on disk, by post, fax or e-mail ready for immediate use. Direct output from the electronic format provided by me is always recommended to ensure accuracy.
References :
Giving out 2 or 3 references is common practice when applying for a permanent position, but as a freelancer I cannot do that: I am legally and ethically bound to keep any and all information regarding my clients confidential. Therefore, I suggest that you either send me a 200-word test or a small job for which you would have to pay me a minimum fee ("the proof of the pudding is in the eating").
Qualifications :
I have been translating thousands and thousands of words every year since 1976, so I have the experience to guide you whatever your project. I have a loyal client base and enjoy repeat business from clients who have used my services for many years.
Professional experience :
I will not deviate from the content and emphasis of the source text, and will raise any queries regarding ambiguities etc for clarification before the work is completed. I will also draw attention to any points in the text that I feel are culturally sensitive. I work with any different kinds of texts, including business letters, advertisements, financial, technical and medical texts as well as literature. I adapt to the language needs of each text and translate with care, fluency and subtlety. I care about my work, and take care with my work. I concentrate not just on technical accuracy, but also on style, consistency and usability.
Prices :
Translation rates vary depending on a number of factors: language, subject, difficulty, turn-around time and format, to name a few. My rates are based on the source word count as determined by the word count feature in Word. I am happy to provide a written estimate for any project - simply send me an email! Additional fees may apply for instant or weekend work, handwritten documents, extra formatting, and other non-standard requirements. Invoices are issued on the day of project completion and are payable within 30 days. In the case of late payment a 'late payment fee' applies. No claims shall be considered after 10 days from receipt of invoice. Any liability shall be limited to the amount stated on the invoice. If necessary, I would be happy to provide corrections of errors or omissions at no charge.
Working method :
Technology cannot yet replace the essentially human process of high-quality translation as machines are not able to capture the nuances of context and interpretation. However, computer-aided translation tools and translation memory technology are useful in leveraging repeated text and ensuring consistency throughout your projects. I make full use of these technologies to keep your costs down and your translations both accurate and consistent within a given project and from one project to the next.
