Presentation :
I am a bilingual translator (English/German) who grew up in London, and now lives in Frankfurt. I am a composer and writer on classical music (especially contemporary), philosophy and aesthetics, and my translating is informed by my knowledge in these areas.
Qualifications :
After beginning studies in German and Music at Bristol University, moved to Frankfurt, obtaining a masters degree (Diplom) in composition from the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst. I am currently working on a PhD in musicology.
Professional experience :
Active as a translator and interpreter since 2000. Translations of numerous articles for the journal Musik & Ästhetik, the book series New Music and Aesthetics in the 21st Century(all volumes), as well as essays on philosophy and aesthetics published by the Orpheus Institute, Ghent. I am also a regular interpreter of lectures on contemporary music. In 2005, the British publisher Polity Press will publish At present, I am translating Theodor W. Adorno's posthumous work 'Zu einer Theorie der musikalischen Reproduktion' and his complete correspondence with Alban Berg for the British publisher Polity Press, scheduled for publication in 2005.
Prices :
Cost reckoned per line, as the number of words varies too much between English and German. Price per line normally between €0.70 and €0.90, depending on the complexity of the text.
Working method :
