 CV
Presentation :
I am a mature and flexible individual with nearly thirty years of work experience in scientific research, mathematics teaching and the voluntary sector, and in 18 months as a freelance translator have gained a range of experience and areas of expertise. I take great pride in producing work of a consistently high quality through meticulous research and attention to detail.
In June 2003 I completed the postgraduate Diploma in Translating at the University of Salford with Distinction. Since then I have done over 170 000 words of professional translation in the fields of contracts, business and finance, bankruptcy law and procedures, art history, leisure and tourism, sport, technology and popular medicine.

In 1996 I took early retirement and, following the completion of my Italian Studies degree in June 2000 (during which I took a course on business Italian), I completed an M.A. in history of art at Warwick University, concentrating on the Italian Renaissance. Earlier degrees in mathematics (specialising in applied maths and theoretical physics) and astronomy, Open University courses in development studies and music, my personal interests, and the broad training offered by the Salford course, mean I have a background that qualifies me to do specialist work in fields spanning business, the arts, technology and the environmental and physical sciences. I also have a wide-ranging knowledge of Italian culture, politics and history.
