Professional Background:
Since 2000, I have been working for the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Lisbon, where I translate all kind of documents: agreements, speeches, press releases, letters, embassies notes, international reports, etc.
I'm responsible for the translations into and from Portuguese.
Since June 2002 I'm also responsible for the translations of the Secretary of State for the Portuguese Communities.
Outside the Ministry I have been working as freelance translator. I regularly work with some translation and travel agencies, and privates.

Rates depend on the client, type of job, volume and deadline.
Usually rates go from 0,04€ up to 0,10€ per source word;
Discounts can be arranged when dealing with large projects and long-term partnership.
Working method :
- Client contact through telephone or e-mail;
- Acceptance of the project and agreement of the rate per source word or a total price;
- Client will forward the project file, by e-mail or fax, as well as all the data about the project to be peformed (translation, editing, proofreading) - i.e. type of job, pair of languages to be working with, area of expertise, deadline and CAT tools or special software required) in a Purchase Order;
- Beginning of the project using all resources aqvailable (dictionaries, Eurodicautom, FLiP, online resources, TRADOS, reference material from client, private glossaries);
- Delivery of the project within the agreed deadline;
- Client confirms reception;
- Invoicing the client;
- Payment within 30 days from the date of invoice;
- After receiving the payment, confirmation sent to the client.
